Secret Beach Hideaway - Kauai

secretmain

Instead of working on the entire hotel section of this website, I think  I will just writeup on some of the exclusive hotels and resorts that I am interested in travelling to. As a person who enjoys fine travelling and luxury accomodations, over the years I have stayed at some exclusive hotels and resorts together with darling.

It was my desire to showcase some of these hotels which I have stayed at, and also the ones which have caught my attention, that I wanted to do a writeup on luxury and exclusive hotels and resorts not many know about. But I think I will just put it on the main blog section. Maybe I will just do a “listing” in the hotel section for easy reference.

While the “garden island” of Kauai has always been a terrific destination  in Hawaii, truly exclusive  accommodations  were  sometimes hard to come by. When I went to the Island of Kauai with darling in May, we had stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, one of the best hotels in Hawaii and world famous. It was a nice experience, although we did not have enough time to spend in Kauai, just 1 night.

Now, Secret Beach Hideaway, a  unique  50-acre  villa rental  compound,  offers four villa homes and three farm dwellings that deliver a new level of exclusivity to island visitors.  The  top-notch  Villa,  an  $8.7-million  single-story  beachfront  home,  features breathtaking  views  from  its  four-plus-acre ocean-bluff location as well as a private pool, private  gardens,  an  outdoor  BBQ  lanai,  full gourmet kitchen and more. The three-bedroom Villa is available for $900  to $1,450 a night, depending on  the number of people in the party.

Private? Yes. Exclusive? Yes. Luxurious? Yes… just ask Will Smith, he stayed there. ;)

LOL…It’s so funny…my fiancee and I were deciding if we should stay at the Secret Beach Hideaway at our honeymoon so I was trying to look up more pics for this place and I found your website! Hehe..hope you are doing well! :)

Haha… you should know, this website’s been up since 1999 so I guess I got a pretty good rank with Google. Isn’t the Hideaway nice! ^_^ Oh and congratulations on your engagement. When is the big day? My only problem is that it’s quite secluded. Although for a honeymooon you will probably enjoy the privacy.

On our island hopping trip in May, we basically went through all the islands. I personally enjoyed every single one of them as each has their own scenery and specialties. It’s hard to say which island is the best.

In Maui, we stayed at the Ritz Carlton and that was pretty nice too.

All the best for your wedding and do keep in touch.

Hehe…thank you! It’s definitely a very nice place…can’t wait to be there! :)
We are getting married on May 20th next year on Big Island and will head over to Kauai for our honeymoon. How was the weather there in May when you visit Kauai? Hopefully it won’t rain much.. :P

How’s everything going with you? :)

Kona is definitely nice too. We basically went to all the islands and drove up to the Volcanoes on Maui and Kona. I highly recommend renting a Jeep and driving up to the volcano yourself. It is a journey you will never forget… and the Volcano peak at Big Island is NOT for the faint of heart… it is all dirt road, and I have never driven on any road as bad as that before.

Put it this way, I rented an almost brand new 4X4 Jeep Cherokee… and going up almost at the peak, the Jeep’s engine light and brake overheat lights went on… which really freaked me out. Keep in mind outside air temperature is already around 5 degrees already cuz of the height! The roads were relatively narrow, unpaved and full of EXTREME bumps… and NO RAILS at the side to keep you from falling 10,000,000 metres to your death… no gentle slopes there… you miss a turn, slide your 4X4 (and it’s super easy, your jeep is always sliding cuz of the bumping rough “pebble road”) over the edge and you fall immediately to your death. I was freaked out quite a bit driving it, and looking outside the window while driving seriously made me weak in the knees…

But once you reach the top.. it’s heaven…

At Kona, because of the time it took us to drive to the mountains and the fact the Ritz Carlton was like directly opposite around the island, on the way back we basically drove around the island as well as into the night to the lava flow areas, and were able to walk onto the hardened lava at the beach to within 200 metres away from the lava spewing into the ocean… it was fantastic. All in all, I had 2 days 1 night at Kona and I drove the entire circumference of the island pretty much. Not an easy task!

Kauai was also wonderful, we stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and again that hotel is very nice. Almost too big but nice. By this time it was our 4th island and we were pretty worn out from all the driving and walking… so we just drove a little about and decided to chill out at the hotel’s fabulous beaches etc.

I’m sure you’ll do more than me in Kauai.

Next year I’m maybe planning to go to Lanai, the only island we didn’t go to… due to unavailability of flight pattern based on our schedule. I have 2 nights absolutely free at the Fairmont Lanai in a Suite, so still debating whether to go or not.

Of course… Honolulu can’t be beat… it’s like Japan except with North American buidlings!! And I practically don’t have to speak English there~!! Haha!

Do not worry as well. When we went in May… we never encountered 1 day of rain in over 7 days. And the weather was perfect. Not too hot like summer and not cold at all. It will be a nice wedding for you.

Well things for me… how should I put it… not as fortunate as you are… still not married and probably won’t be for a very, very long time.
